Nordex books 78-MW turbine order for Greek wind project trio

German wind turbine maker Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1) has secured contracts to equip three wind farms in Greece with 78 MW of its machines, it said on Wednesday.

The deals were placed by an unspecified client who preferred not to disclose the name of the specific projects.

Under the contracts, Nordex will supply and install 14 units of its N149/5.X Delta4000 series turbines and take care of their maintenance under a 10-year premium service agreement. Two of the wind parks, located in Central Greece’s Boeotia region, will be powered by a total of 10 turbines and the remaining four units will be installed at a site in Achaia in the north-west of Peloponnese in western Greece.

Nordex will mount the turbines on tubular steel towers with a hub height of 105 metres, with installation to be carried out in 2024.

Once up and running, the three wind farms will have a combined output of over 232 GWh per year, or though to meet the demand of around 60,000 homes. The generated electricity will be sold under long-term corporate power purchase agreements (PPAs).
