Nordex books 109-MW wind turbine order in Sweden, Finland

German wind turbine maker Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1) said on Wednesday that it has picked up orders to supply its machines for 109.3-MW of wind farm projects in Sweden and Finland.

The orders were placed by German renewables developer-operator wpd AG.

For the Swedish project, the 68-MW Tomasliden, wpd will use ten N163/6.X turbines and install them at a site in Vesterbotten County. According to Nordex, the project represents a debut for the N163/6.X model on the Swedish market.

The 41.3-MW Oulainen wind farm in Finland will be made up of seven units of the N163/5.X turbines. The site is located in the Northern Ostrobothnia region.

Both projects will feature turbines made for cold climate and equipped with the Nordex advanced anti-icing system to avoid rotor blade icing, the manufacturer said. The orders also include a premium service contract for the turbine maintenance for 15 years with an option to extend the agreement for another five years.

Construction at both sites is scheduled to commence in the spring of 2024.
