NKT gets formal cable order for Dogger Bank offshore wind parks

Danish group NKT A/S (CPH:NKT) today confirmed it has received a EUR-360-million (USD 399m) power cable supply order for the Dogger Bank Creyke Beck A & B projects, each of 1.2 GW capacity.

The project owners, UK utility SSE plc (LON:SSE) and Norway’s Equinor ASA (NYSE:EQNR), have contracted NKT to manufacture and deliver 4x175 km of 320-kV direct current (DC) offshore export power cables and 4x32 km of 320-kV DC onshore export power cables. Its cable-laying vessel NKT Victoria will be in charge of their installation.

NKT entered into a preferred supplier agreement in September. Today the company said it has added the project to its high-voltage order backlog, noting that it is the firm’s largest XLPE power cables order ever. NKT anticipates starting production as part of the contract next year.

Dogger Bank Creyke Beck A & B are two of the three wind parks that will form a 3.6-GW complex in the North Sea, the other being Dogger Bank Teesside A.
