October 1 (Renewables Now) - Danish group NKT A/S (CPH:NKT) has completed the turn-key order for the cable that connects to the shore the 309-MW Rentel offshore wind farm in Belgium.

The company said today that the high-voltage (HV) cable system is ready to carry power from the wind park to the Belgian power grid.

NKT has designed, manufactured and installed an extruded three-core 220 kV XLPE HVAC (alternating current) submarine cable system with a length of 40 kilometres (25 miles). The installation was performed by cable-laying vessel NKT Victoria.

The Rentel project recently completed installation of its 42 turbines. Once operational, the wind farm is expected to generate enough power for 300,000 households.

Developed by the Otary Group, the project reached financial close in October 2016.
