November 4 (Renewables Now) - Paris-based Nexans SA (EPA:NEX) has won the preferred supplier status for the provision of onshore and offshore export cables for the 1,075-MW Seagreen wind project in the Scottish part of the North Sea.

SSE Renewables has chosen Nexans to design, supply and install three 65-km (40.4 miles) offshore export cables and three 20-km onshore export cables for the said project. The value of the contract was not disclosed.

The Seagreen offshore wind park will be installed about 27 km off the Angus coast. Its Phase 1 comprises the Seagreen Alpha and Bravo wind farms that should be completed in 2024. In September, the unit of UK utility SSE Plc (LON:SSE) was successful in securing a contract for difference (CfD) for 454 MW of the Seagreen project.

This week, SSE Renewables will hold Meet the Buyer events in Inverness, Aberdeen and Dundee to promote contracts opportunities for local firms.
