The US Department of the Interior on Friday announced the names of the provisional winners of the New York Bight offshore wind sale, saying that the auction drew competitive winning bids from six companies totalling USD 4.37 billion (EUR 3.88bn).
The bidding process lasted 64 rounds across three days, attracting bids from 14 different parties. The Interior Department said in a statement that this ended up being “the nation’s highest-grossing competitive offshore energy lease sale in history, including oil and gas lease sales”.
