July 4 (Renewables Now) - Swiss food and drink giant Nestle SA (VTX:NESN) inaugurated on Tuesday a nine-turbine wind park at Sanquhar in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.

The facility will be able to generate around 125 GWh per year, enough to supply half of the annual electricity demand of all Nestle UK and Ireland operations, including factories, offices and warehouses. The output of the wind park is estimated to be equal to the consumption of 30,000 homes.

The facility, developed in partnership with energy company Community Windpower Ltd, will achieve a capacity factor of over 45%, Community Windpower's Managing Director, Rod Wood, said.

Nestle UK and Ireland has a global commitment to procure 100% of its electricity from renewables.
