June 6 (Renewables Now) - Swedish airport operator Swedavia AB will use sustainable aviation fuel made by Neste Oyj (HEL:NESTE) in a bid to reduce the carbon footprint of its corporate staff air travel, the Finnish oil refiner said Wednesday.

The fuel will be delivered to five Swedavia-run airports by Air BP, the aviation division of UK oil and gas company BP plc (LON:BP) and the Finnish company’s partner. The airports are located in Stockholm, Malmo, Gothenburg, Ostersund and Umea.

Neste produces aviation fuel from renewable waste and residues such as used cooking oil, among other ingredients. The company says its blend can reduce up to 80% of greenhouse gas emissions over its life-cycle compared to conventional jet fuel.
