NCC nabs USD-70m construction job for Statkraft SCA wind projects
Sep 27, 2012 - Swedish builder NCC AB (STO:NCCA) today said it had won a SEK-460-million (USD 70m/EUR 54m) order from Statkraft SCA Vind AB to build 123 base plates and associated roads for two wind projects totaling 370 MW in Sweden.
The contract, which includes the construction of 103 km (64 miles) of roads, was awarded to NCC's unit NCC Construction Sweden. Work will kick off next month and be concluded in November 2014.
The 270-MW Bjorkhojden wind farm and the 99-MW Ogonfagnaden wind farm will be located in Jamtland and Vasternorrland counties, in mid/northern Sweden. The developer is a 60/40 joint venture of Norwegian utility Statkraft AS and Swedish paper and packaging group Svenska Cellulosa AB (STO:SCA B), or SCA. Once up and running, the wind power plants are seen to generate 1,090 GWh of electricity a year.
NCC Construction said that it would employ total of 50 workers for the Statkraft SCA contract.
