September 8 (SeeNews) - Spanish utility Iberdrola (BME:IBE) has contracted compatriot companies Navantia and Windar to provide a first batch of 34 jackets for its 714-MW East Anglia One offshore wind farm in the UK.

The contract, signed on Wednesday afternoon, is worth slightly more than EUR 120 million (USD 132m), Iberdrola said.

Spanish state-owned shipbuilder Navantia will produce the jackets at its shipyard in Fene, while Windar will fabricate the jacket piles at its facilities in Aviles. Work will take place between March 2017 and June 2018.

The award comes weeks after Navantia and Windar delivered 29 jackets and 116 piles for the 350-MW Wikinger offshore wind farm that Iberdrola is building in the German Baltic Sea, the utility noted.

East Anglia One, slated for commissioning in 2020, will feature 102  Siemens turbines of 7 MW.
