February 21 (Renewables Now) - Spanish electric and gas utility Naturgy Energy Group SA (BME:NTGY) is close to finalising the construction of the El Tesorillo wind project that will bring 26 MW to the region of Andalusia, Spain.

The company on Thursday held the inaugural event of the EUR-25-million (USD 27m) project for the local authorities and said that it is currently working on completing the power evacuation infrastructure.

The wind farm’s 12 turbines scattered across the municipality of San Martin del Tesorrillo in Cadiz province are expected to generate around 84 GWh per year, or enough to meet the power consumption needs of more than 33,000 households year-round.

El Tesorilllo will join Naturgy’s two operating wind farms totalling 55 MW in Andalusia. The company also has a portfolio of close to 300 MW of renewable energy projects in development it intends to bring to Spain's southern region.
