Scottish renewables consultancy Natural Power has completed an independent energy yield assessment (EYA) for financing purposes on behalf of a SunEdison (OTCMKTS:SUNEQ) unit for the 160-MW Tellenes wind project in Norway.
The company explained that the goal of a finance grade independent energy yield assessment is to predict a wind farm’s long-term wind resource and average energy production over its lifetime and to quantify the associated risks. It is used by lenders or financial services providers interested in the project.
“Energy yield estimates are the cornerstone of wind power financial models and the accuracy of these is therefore imperative,” said Lauren Wheatley, Natural Power’s Director of Technical.
SunEdison Norway Holdings BV will build the particular wind park near Sogndalis. The plant will consist of 50 pieces of Siemens SWT 3.2-113 turbines. The SunEdison unit has already signed a 12-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the project with Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL).
