August 6 (Renewables Now) - Southeast Asian firm Modern Energy Management (MEM) has been picked by an unnamed client to support the expansion phases of an operating wind farm in Vietnam.

MEM did not disclose the name of its client nor the wind park. It said that the work will start with an energy yield analysis (EYA) in order to optimise production and establish an average annual energy yield.

The wind farm's phases 1 and 2 are already in commercial operation and its expansion is expected to achieve financial close next year.

At present, MEM supports more than 1.5 GW of onshore and intertidal wind projects in Vietnam. Recently, the country raised its 2030 wind energy target to 11 GW from 6 GW. At the end of 2020, the local installed wind power capacity amounted to 670 MW.
