MMT awarded cable route surveys for Beacon Wind in US

Swedish marine survey provider MMT today said it has been selected by Norwegian energy group Equinor ASA (NYSE:EQNR) to conduct export cable route surveys for the Beacon Wind offshore wind project in the US.

Beacon Wind is being developed by a 50/50 partnership between Equinor and BP Plc (LON:BP), with Beacon Wind 1 to deliver 1,230 MW of offshore wind power to the state of New York.

MMT is carrying out a combination of geophysical, geotechnical, environmental and benthic surveys along the export route of the Beacon Wind sites 1 and 2. Work started in April and will be completed in July. MMT, which was acquired earlier this year by US marine robotics company Ocean Infinity, said its team in Providence, MMT US Inc, is leading the project.

In addition to this contract, MMT was also awarded offshore survey work last year which was completed last month.
