Jul 01, 2022 17:05 CESTMarch 3 (Renewables Now) - MHI Vestas Offshore Wind announced today it has obtained a firm order to equip the 139-MW Akita Noshiro offshore wind project in Japanese waters.
The joint venture (JV) between Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) and Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (TYO:7011) has been contracted to supply a total of 33 units of the V117-4.2 MW turbine for this project, which includes the construction of wind parks at two sites -- Akita and Noshiro.
MHI Vestas will deliver 13 turbines for 55 MW of electric power output at the Akita Port and also supply 20 machines for 84 MW at the Noshiro Port. The installation is scheduled to start in 2022.
The order includes service and maintenance agreements with a maximum term of 20 years, subject to the options being exercised.
The Akita Noshiro project is led by Marubeni Corp (TYO:8002) with development support from several partners. The needed financing was secured last month.
