MeyGen developer SIMEC Atlantis selects COO

October 22 (Renewables Now) - SIMEC Atlantis Energy Ltd (LON:SAE), formerly Atlantis Resources, announced today that Andy Richardson is assuming the role of chief operating officer (COO) for the developer of the 398-MW MeyGen tidal energy project in Scotland.

The newly-hired COO will join the senior management team of SIMEC Atlantis based in London and will be in charge of asset management, portfolio optimisation and acquisition analysis. The appointment was a non-board one, the firm noted.

Richardson, a senior figure in the global power generation sector, previously held roles as Head of Asset Management and Engineering Manager at Alstom Power Service UK and Executive Director of Thermal & Renewables at EDF, where he was a member of the Energy Branch Board as well. The new SIMEC Atlantis’ high-rank official was also a COO of Australian energy company Stanwell Corporation Ltd.
