MeyGen completes installation of 4 tidal turbine foundations

Singapore-based Atlantis Resources Ltd (LON:ARL) said today it has completed the installation of all four turbine foundations for Phase 1A of the 398-MW MeyGen free stream tidal power project in Scotland.
The foundations were installed in the Pentland Firth by the Neptune jack up vessel owned by Geosea. The vessel has now been demobilised from the project site.
Atlantis noted that the project remains on track to have all four turbines installed and hooked to the grid by the end of the year.
MeyGen’s Phase 1A will consist of four 1.5-MW turbines that are now fully assembled and awaiting installation. Three of them were fabricated by Andritz Hydro and one was made by Atlantis itself.
The whole MeyGen tidal power plant will consist of 269 turbines. It is estimated to generate enough electricity to meet the annual consumption of about 175,000 UK households.
