Meridian Energy puts off hearing for 60-MW Mt Munro wind project
Sep 20, 2012 - New Zealand utility Meridian Energy Ltd today said it would postpone the consent hearing for its proposed up to 60-MW Mt Munro wind farm on the North Island of New Zealand.
The state-owned company is planning additional bird monitoring on the transmission line route and site, as well as certain landscape and noise assessment activities. In addition, the developer wants more time to discuss the cultural values assessments carried out by third parties.
Meridian Energy intended to hold a public hearing on the 20-turbine project later this year. It has now received the green light by the Horizons and Wellington Regional Councils and the Tararua and Masterton District Councils to extend the timeframe for the hearing to no later than November 2013.
Mt Munro is located on the border of the Tararua and Masterton Districts in New Zealand’s Wellington Region.
