Marine Energy Alliance (MEA) has awarded 23 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as part of the second call for applications in a EUR-6-million (USD 6.8m) project that supports early-stage marine energy developers’ progress in their technical and commercial maturity level.
The winning applications in the call, which was initiated on January 1, were announced on Thursday. The selected companies will get help with the development of their technology as well as their commercial strategy and business plans.

MEA is a four-year European Territorial Cooperation project backed by Interreg North West Europe that was launched in May 2018 with the ultimate objective to cut the risk of device failure in subsequent demonstration phases. The chosen marine energy technology developers get a suite of tailored expert services, including access to the project partners’ field expertise.
