October 1 (Renewables Now) - Shell New Energies US LLC and EDPR Offshore North America LLC (EDPR) have responded to an offshore wind solicitation in Connecticut with two proposals of 804 MW and 408 MW.

The partners have launched their bids, both being versions of Mayflower Wind CT Project, through their 50/50 joint venture Mayflower Wind Energy LLC. The 408-MW project has a scale-down option of 204 MW.

The proposals were submitted in the procurement round held by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). Details on the projects and a specific timeline for their commissioning are not available at this point.

“Governor Lamont has outlined a vision for moving Connecticut toward a clean energy future, and we believe our proposal can play a role in advancing that vision in an affordable manner,” said John Hartnett, president of Mayflower Wind.

Connecticut launched a request for proposals for up to 2 GW of offshore wind in August. Developers had time until noon on September 30 to present bids in the state’s first offshore wind-dedicated solicitation.
