Dec 4, 2012 - US wind power technology firm Mass Megawatts Wind Power Inc (OTC:MMMW) said Monday it had launched a new renewable energy product line for retail customers in northeastern US.
The company’s new offer will be available to commercial and residential electricity consumers in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Illinois.
The company first unveiled plans to establish the new retail sales division in early-November.
Additionally, Mass Megawatts said it had completed a wind augmentation system in Charlton, Massachusetts. The new system is based on a lower cost wind-focusing technique that can boost the wind velocity directed at the turbine by an average of 70%. The higher wind speeds result in a three-fold increase in the turbine’s electricity output.
The company said that its horizontal or propeller type turbine blades allow the cost per rated kW to be cut to below USD 1,000 (EUR 766) and as low as USD 600 in mass production, compared with traditional wind power systems that have a cost of USD 1,500 to USD 2,000 per kW.
