Sep 7 (Renewables Now) - The founder of Ireland-based wind and solar developer Mainstream Renewable Power, Eddie O'Connor, has handed over the role of chief executive to the company's chief operating officer.

The new CEO, Andy Kinsella, will be responsible for the running of the company, its strategy and direction, Mainstream Renewable said on Tuesday. After nine years as chief executive, O’Connor becomes executive chairman. He will chair the board and lead on broader business relationships, senior external relations and thought leadership, according to the statement.

"Eddie O’Connor has been the driving force behind Mainstream since its creation. In his new role he will act as a thought-leader, an ambassador and advocate for both the company and for the renewables industry as a whole," Kinsella said.

The management changes will also see Roy Gardner, the current non-executive chairman, become senior independent non-executive director.
