Macquarie takes control of UK biogas producer BioCow

November 20, (Renewables Now) - Macquarie Capital Principal Finance on Monday said it had completed the purchase of a majority stake in UK biogas producer BioCow.

BioCow, which produces biomethane from agricultural waste via anaerobic digestion, will use the proceeds from the deal to further expand its operations in Cambridgeshire and to complete the first biomethane injection point in the UK national transmission grid, as part of a project with National Grid.

The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Macquarie Capital Principal Finance is the principal investment business of Macquarie Capital, which in turn is the advisory, capital markets and principal investment arm of Australia's Macquarie Group Ltd (ASX:MQG). Macquarie invests in and arranges renewable energy projects around the world. In the UK, it has participated in infrastructure projects worth over GBP 40 billion (USD 52bn/EUR 47bn) since 2005.
