LM Wind to open 4th blade plant in China

Danish wind turbine blades maker LM Wind Power plans to start production in July in a new plant in China, its fourth in the country, located in the Baodi district.

The company, recently acquired by US conglomerate General Electric (NYSE:GE), said today it expects to open 500 positions at the new blade factory. Recruitment is already in progress.

“The Baodi site is a great location for serving our local and global customers in China, with close proximity to the highway and only 50 km to the Tianjin Port,” said CEO Marc de Jong. The Baodi facility in northeastern China will be located 40 km away from the company’s Tianjin plant. LM Wind also has factories in Qin Huang Dao and Jiangyin.

In 2016 LM Wind’s revenues rose 41% to EUR 1.059 billion (USD 1.17bn). In March it also broke ground on a factory in Cherbourg, in France’s Normandy region, which will be producing offshore wind turbine blades.
