LM Wind Power to supply turbine blades to Belgian offshore wind farm

(ADPnews) - Nov 29, 2010 - Danish wind turbine blade maker LM Wind Power today said it will deliver 144 units of 61.5-metre (662 ft) blades for an offshore wind farm off the Belgian coast.

The blades will be assembled into 48 wind turbines to be supplied and installed by German REpower Systems (ETR:RPW) as part of phases two and three of the offshore project.

LM Wind Power said it will deliver the blades from its plant in Lunderskov, Denmark.

The Thornton Bank wind farm, located 28 kilometres (17.4 miles) off the coast, at present consists of six 5-MW turbines supplied by REpower and carrying LM Wind Power's 61.5-metre blades. The plant has been operational since June 2009.

The investment in the whole project, including the second and the third phases, will total EUR 1.3 billion (USD 1.72bn), making it the largest project funding in the sector, the Danish company said.
