US independent power company Leeward Renewable Energy LLC has obtained USD 162.9 million (EUR 152m) in construction financing and tax equity commitment for the 170-MW Mountain Breeze wind project in Colorado.
The company said in a statement on Thursday that the construction financing comes from Citi.
The Mountain Breeze wind park is currently being built at a site in Weld County, where a total of 62 GE turbines of two different models will be installed. The facility is expected to become operational in December 2020.
Upon completion, Leeward will own and operate the wind farm and will be selling its output under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Xcel Energy Colorado.
Presently, Leeward has 1.7 GW of operating wind power generation capacity over 19 assets in nine states and is also building a further 395.2 MW. Moreover, it has a project pipeline that exceeds 1 GW and includes wind, solar and energy storage schemes.
