In the past week Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS), the Danish wind turbine maker, announced nearly a gigawatt of firm and unconditional orders from the US.
To be more exact, the announced contracts are for the supply of 929 MW of turbines. Of these Vestas did not disclose the name of the customer for about 600 MW of orders across its 2-MW and 3-MW platforms, and including one 131-MW deal for the V112-3.45 MW turbine.

Components for many of the ordered turbines will be manufactured at Vestas’ factories in Colorado, the company has said. Names and locations of the wind projects were not available, with Vestas saying the majority of orders will “enable future project pipeline”.
As of this morning, the Danish company's website shows total announced orders of 9,267 MW for 2016. This compares to 8,943 MW announced in 2015 and total order intake of 6,544 MW in 2014.
