La Caixa invests EUR 400m in 15 renewable project in H1 2011
Aug 8, 2011 - Spanish savings bank La Caixa spent some EUR 400 million (USD 573.6m) on 15 renewable energy project during the first half of 2011, the financial entity said.
The most remarkable transaction for La Caixa between January and June is related to the biomass plant promoted by Spanish power utility and pulp manufacturer Ence (MCE:ENC) in the province of Huelva, southwestern Spain, with a credit line of EUR 110 million.
La Caixa targets to boost its presence in the energy sector on the domestic and international market, as well. Over the last two years, the bank has financed energy projects in eight countries, apart from Spain. The investments amounted to more than EUR 300 million.
