KK Wind Solutions A/S, a developer of control systems for wind turbines, announced today it will acquire the India-based control cabinet production business of Italian company Bonfiglioli Riduttori SpA.
The acquisition of the Bangalore-based business will give KK Wind access to a sizable cabinet production that will help the company beef up its positioning in the global wind business as well as its presence in the Asia Pacific region, it said. The transaction will become effective on September 1, according to a press statement.
KK Wind has set up a new production and engineering site close to Bonfiglioli’s existing facilities so it could have enough space for future growth. All control cabinet production equipment will be transferred to the new building.
Bonfiglioli, in turn, has decided to offload the business in order to focus on its core operations. The Italian company is engaged in the production of solutions for all kinds of applications in industrial automation, mobile machinery and wind energy, including gearmotors, drive systems, planetary gearboxes and inverters. It is currently expanding in Chennai, India, by increasing production capacities for the mobile and wind solutions plant in Thirumudivakkam. In addition, it is establishing a new assembly plant in Pune.
“In this context, our control cabinet manufacturing business in Bangalore was considered as non-core or functional for the achievements of our strategic targets,” said Fausto Carboni, CEO of Bonfiglioli Group.
