JLEN buys GBP-16m AD plant in UK from BayWa

December 20 (Renewables Now) - John Laing Environmental Assets Group Ltd (LON:JLEN) said on Wednesday it has acquired an anaerobic digestion (AD) plant in England for GBP 16.2 million (USD 20.5m/EUR 17.9m).

More specifically, JLEN has bought from BayWa r.e Renewable Energy GmbH the firm Biogas Meden Limited, which operates an AD facility with a thermal capacity of around 5 MWth and a 0.4-MW combined heat and power (CHP) engine. The plant is located to the southeast of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, and predominantly produces biomethane. It is accredited under the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) and Feed-in-Tariff (FiT) schemes.

JLEN noted that following this acquisition, its AD portfolio includes six facilities, while its entire renewables platform amounts to 279.2 MW. Its latest purchase was funded by a draw-down under the firm's revolving credit line.
