July 4 (Renewables Now) - The renewable energy arm of Japan's SD Group announced on Tuesday it has acquired the small-scale wind turbines manufacturing business of UK-based Kingspan Environmental.

SD Green Energy is also creating a new division called SD Wind Energy Ltd to manage its new branch. The firm will expand its team immediately with the addition of the employees and manufacturing capabilities from the Kingspan site in Stewarton, Scotland. The new crew will also be supported by an existing international sales team based in Asia, SD Green said.

Under the agreement, SD Wind Energy is taking on existing customers, including an installed fleet of over 5,000 wind turbines globally. The company will continue to provide uninterrupted warranty and field support to its entire global portfolio, it stated.

SD Green Energy's CEO Toshiro Urushitani commented that the company sees huge potential for wind turbines in the Japanese and Asian markets. "We also look forward to growing our presence in the oil & gas, off grid, domestic, agricultural and microgrid sectors," Urushitani added.
