Jan De Nul says all turbines up at Nobelwind, Tahkoluoto is next

Jan De Nul Group said Monday installation of all 50 turbines at the Nobelwind offshore wind farm in Belgium has been completed and its jack-up installation vessel Vole au Vent is now heading to Finland.

The 165-MW wind park is a project by Parkwind, Japan's Sumitomo Corp (TYO:8053), and Dutch fund Meewind. It uses 3.3-MW MHI Vestas wind turbines.

Now that work on Nobelwind has been concluded, Jan De Nul is sending Vole au Vent to work on the 40-MW Tahkoluoto offshore wind demonstration project in the Baltic Sea, off the coast of Finland. Suomen Hyotytuuli Oy's project will use 10 Siemens wind turbines.

At the end of 2016 Belgium ranked sixth globally in terms of offshore wind capacity with 712 MW in total, while Finland had 32 MW, according to the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC).
