May 22 (Renewables Now) - Jacques Veyrat does not plan to sell renewable power producer Neoen SAS (EPA:NEOEN), he has told Les Echos, thus rebuffing an earlier media report saying that the French businessman would be ready to shed Neoen in exchange for a minority interest in domestic energy company Engie (EPA:ENGI).

Veyrat, who holds a 51% stake in Neoen through his holding company Impala, also denied discussing a potential deal with the state or Engie, according to the report published on Tuesday.

BFM Business reported on the potential sale of the stake in Neoen earlier the same day, suggesting that France has contacted Veyrat's team.

Paris currently owns 24% of Engie's share capital and 34% of its voting rights, but it is preparing to reduce the stake as part of a bigger privatisation plan which also includes Aeroport de Paris and lottery operator Francaise des Jeux.
