UK hydrogen company ITM Power plc (LON:ITM) will explore green electricity tariffs for hydrogen production at its refuelling stations across the UK under an agreement with local green energy provider Good Energy plc (AIM: GOOD) .
The two said today they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that will see them look at the provision of renewable energy contracts and direct coupling to renewable power generation for the production of hydrogen fuel.
ITM Power said it had a number of strategies for sourcing low-carbon electricity for the operation of its hydrogen refuelling stations, including direct coupling to renewable power production, grid balancing to access renewables and renewable energy contracts.
"Utilising surplus renewable energy lies at the heart of the proposition for hydrogen as a clean fuel," said ITM Power chief executive Graham Cooley.
