ITM Power, GMI Renewable Energy team on hydrogen production systems
Aug 3, 2012 - UK energy storage and clean fuel firm ITM Power plc (LON:ITM) and GMI Renewable Energy Group Ltd today unveiled an agreement to offer integrated renewable energy and hydrogen generation systems for commercial buildings.
Leeds-based GMI Renewable Energy will give customers the option to use their renewable power generated on-site for hydrogen production. The hydrogen fuel could then be used for applications such as back-up power, forklifts and pallet trucks, and industrial processes.
ITM Power will supply the hydrogen generation and refuelling equipment and, if needed, the fuel cell systems to allow customers to generate zero-carbon hydrogen at the point of use.
The business of GMI Renewable Energy, which is trading as GMI Energy, includes solar photovoltaic (PV), low-energy lighting, biomass and smart metering. It is part of the GMI group, specialising in building and construction service projects.
