Invenergy picks GE turbines for 576 MW of US wind farms

GE Renewable Energy this week announced 576 MW of wind turbine supply deals from Chicago-based Invenergy LLC for projects in the US.

The client has placed three orders for a total of 187 machines of GE’s 2.X onshore platform, the manufacturer said. More specifically, the subsidiary of General Electric (NYSE:GE) will deliver 54 of the 2.X-127 turbines for the 110-MW Crescent wind farm project in Michigan and 97 units of the same turbine model for the 300-MW Deuel Harvest Wind Energy Centre in South Dakota. The 166-MW Contrail wind farm in Iowa, meanwhile, will be equipped with 30 pieces of the 2.X-127 and six 2.X-116 machines.

Once operational, the 187 GE turbines will generate electricity that will be enough to supply over 160,000 average American homes. The capacity is scheduled to go live by the first quarter of 2021, or earlier.

So far, GE has installed more than 15 GW of its 2-MW platform turbines globally, the company said.
