Intertek to advise Tennet on German offshore wind links

Sep 19, 2012 - UK safety services provider Intertek Group (LON:ITRK) yesterday said its energy and water consultancy would assist Dutch grid operator Tennet in delivering offshore wind connections in Germany.

The consultancy has been selected to design and manage geophysical and geotechnical surveys for the export cable routes and offshore substations for wind projects in German waters. The deal comes as Germany is racing to connect its growing offshore wind farms to the onshore grid, according to the statement.

Intertek has previously provided support to Tennet on the BritNed power cable interconnector between the UK and the Netherlands. The UK company has so far been involved in five German offshore wind projects, mainly through the provision of technical due diligence for consortia of lenders and banks. Tennet operates in the Netherlands and Germany and has over 35 million end users in the two countries.
