Insolvent turbine maker Fuhrlaender wins EUR-50m ruling against Indian rival

Insolvent German wind turbine manufacturer Fuhrlaender AG has won a lawsuit for infringement of a licensing agreement against India's Global Wind Power Ltd, insolvency administrator Thomas B. Schmidt said on Monday.

Cologne regional court has ordered the Indian company, a joint venture between Reliance ADA Group and China Ming Yang Wind Power Group, to pay EUR 50 million (USD 58.7m) in damages. According to the announcement, the judgment is final and non-appealable.

The insolvency administrator of the German manufacturer, which produced wind turbines until the start of 2013, said that the enforcement measures may be targeted not only at Global Wind Power and added that in the interests of creditors he is looking at the possibility of holding its European subsidiaries liable.
