Ingeteam supplies battery inverters for 20-MW/80-MWh California BESS

Spanish electrical engineering company Ingeteam SA said on Wednesday its battery inverters were used for two energy storage projects with a combined capacity of 20 MW/80 MWh in Santa Ana, California.

It said its Milwaukee-based business supplied 20 units of the INGECON SUN STORAGE 1245TL U B480 battery inverters, which feature 1,500Vdc technology.

The battery energy storage systems (BESS), named Johanna 1 & 2, were built by power solutions company Mitsubishi Power. The project owner is Chicago-based solar and storage developer Hecate Energy LLC.

The Johanna batteries are part of a multi-year study to examine how distributed energy resources can be integrated into the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) grid and determine whether clean distributed energy can offset the increasing demand for electricity in central Orange County, Ingeteam said.
