Aug 1, 2011 - Indian wind turbine major Suzlon Energy (BOM:532667) turned to a net profit of INR 600 million (USD 13.6m/EUR 9.4m) in its first quarter through June from a net loss of INR 9.12 billion a year before.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) stood at INR 4.9 billion compared with a loss of INR 5.46 billion.
Gross margin for the period improved to 35% from 30% in the fiscal year through March 2011.
Suzlon reported revenues of INR 43.26 billion, an increase of 80% on the year. The company's performance was in line with its full-year projections. It reiterated its 2011/12 revenue guidance of INR 240 billion to INR 260 billion.
At the end of July, Suzlon's order backlog amounted to 4,739 MW, or INR 292.91 billion.
