Inauguration of 122 MW De Zuidlob wind farm planned for Sep
Aug 27, 2013 - De Zuidlob, one of the largest onshore wind farms in the Netherlands with a total capacity of 122 MW will be inaugurated on September 11 by Princess Beatrix, the Dutch Royal House announced on Monday.
The wind farm, located in the central Dutch municipality of Zeewolde, consists of 36 turbines and will supply power to about 88,000 homes.
De Zuidlob is a joint initiative of local residents, the municipality of Zeewolde, the province of Flevoland, the state and energy company Nuon.
Plans for the construction of the wind farm date back to 1998 when local farmers came up with the suggestion. They teamed up in windmill organisation De Zuidlob and approached Nuon, part of Swedish Vattenfall, to develop the wind farm. Nuon took over all the shares of farmers in late 2011.
