Illinois biodiesel plant to be auctioned in June

May 18 (Renewables Now) - An USD-8-million (EUR 6.8m) biodiesel plant with a capacity of 2 million gallons (7.6 million litres) per year in Illinois will be auctioned next month, liquidation specialist Maas Companies said today.

The facility of St Louis Biofuels, located in South Roxana, is one of nine biodiesel plants in the state. It produced biodiesel from soybean and vegetable oil, but can use multiple feedstocks. The plant was built in 1995 and went through an USD-8-million upgrade in 2006 and an additional tank farm upgrade in 2014.

Maas Companies will sell the property via a sealed bid auction, with offers due by June 27.

The US recently imposed duties on biodiesel imports from Argentina and Indonesia after petitions filed by the National Biodiesel Board (NBB) and 15 domestic biodiesel producers.
