Ikea's new 165-MW wind park to get Acciona turbines in mid-2015
Nov 18, 2014 - A unit of Spanish group Acciona (BME:ANA) will start turbine deliveries in the middle of 2015 for the 165-MW Cameron wind project in Texas, which has just been acquired by Swedish furniture retailer Ikea.
In a statement today Acciona Windpower said it has completed the turbine supply deal with Apex Clean Energy, the Cameron project’s developer. The Spanish company will supply 55 pieces of its AW125/3000 turbines under the order, which also includes a 20-year full service warranty.
This would be the first installation of that specific turbine model in the US, Acciona noted, adding that its AW3000 platform will reach 465 MW supplied in the US with this contract.
The Cameron park will be located in Texas’ southern county of Cameron, with Apex taking care of its construction. The complex will be put on stream near the end of 2015. It is estimated to produce as much power as 59,000 US households consume.
