French floating foundations specialist Ideol and Belgian offshore wind developer Elicio are preparing a joint offer for the upcoming offshore wind leasing round in Scotland.
In a joint statement today, the pair said they have decided to work together on floating wind projects in Scottish waters, including a proposal for the so-called ScotWind Leasing round.
According to an update from September, Crown Estate Scotland should provide more details about the first ScotWind Leasing round “no later than November 2019.” The plan was to launch the first round following publication of Marine Scotland’s draft Sectoral Marine Plan (SMP). The second cycle of leasing is planned for about two years after completion of the first one.
While Ideol has experience in successfully operating floating wind turbines in both Europe and Asia, its partner is invested in the 370-MW Norther and 309-MW Rentel offshore wind parks and is also taking part in the development of the 487.2-MW Seamade project, all in Belgian waters.
