Iberdrola Renovables applies for 400 MW wind farm in Baltic Sea
Aug 26, 2011 - Spanish renewable energy firm Iberdrola Renovables (MCE:IBR) announced today it applied for preliminary permits from the German federal maritime and hydrographic agency to build a 400 MW offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea.
This phase includes a detailed presentation of the planned design and a comprehensive environmental impact report, based on a number of studies carried out in the last 12 months, Iberdrola noted.
In March 2010, the Spanish company acquired the construction rights for the offshore complex from a joint venture of DEE Deutsche Erneuerbare Energien GmbH and Ventotec GmbH, which in turn had received the license in 2007.
After getting a green light from the hydrographic agency, Iberdrola expects to present the final plans for the project in early 2014. The construction works are seen to start in 2015 and the farm is foreseen to become operational in 2016.
