Sep 21, 2011 - The Highland Council has voted to reject plans for a 23-turbine, 69-MW wind farm in the Druim Ba forest near Kiltarlity.
Planning councillors objected to the project proposed by Druim Ba Sustainable Energy because of the negative visual impact on the surroundings of the site. The final decision on the proposed wind farm will be made by the Scottish Government.
In a statement on its website the company expressed disappointment with the rejection of the scheme, which it said represented investment of about GBP 100 million (USD 157m/EUR 115m) in the Highlands.
The Scottish government has received 758 representations about the project, 428 supporting and 330 opposing the plans.
