Helius Energy choses design for 100-MW biomass plant in England
Oct 8, 2012 - British firm Helius Energy Plc (LSE:HEGY) has selected a "marine-inspired" design for its proposed 100-MW biomass power plant in Southampton's Western Docks, BBC News said Friday.
According to the report, the company's choice is in line with the results of a public consultation. Helius intends to submit a planning application this quarter for the GBP-300-million (USD 483m/EUR 372m) project.
The project has already faced severe opposition locally, as a result of which Southampton City Council planned to hold a referendum. Yet the idea came out too expensive.
