(SeeNews) - Nov 11, 2011 - Dutch brewer Heineken (AMS:HEIA) plans to build four windmills close to its brewery in Zoeterwoude to cover an important part of the local energy consumption from green sources.
The brewer aims at generating 30% of the electricity needed for the Zoeterwoude site, in western Netherlands, from wind power, a spokesman for Heineken was cited as saying yesterday by news agency ANP.
Heineken is negotiating with the province and the municipality as well as with local energy supplier Delta.
According to the spokesman, a definitive decision will be made within a year.
The spokesman denied, however, reports that Heineken plans to participate in a wind park project in Urk, in the southwestern part of the country.
There had been talks but nothing is concrete, the spokesman was cited as saying.
