UK onshore wind crane and installation services provider Global Wind Projects (GWP) announced it has completed its first onshore wind project in Ireland with the installation of 19 turbines at the 101-MW Ardderroo Wind Farm.
Starting in December 2022, GWP provided installation and mechanical and electrical (M&E) services for the facility which is owned by RockGrid and equipped with Nordex’ N149 turbines, the company said in a recent social media post.
Ardderroo, located in County Galway, was the first of three contracts GWP has secured in Ireland.
GWP is now set to complete the installation of five other onshore wind turbines for Nordex at ABO Wind Ireland Ltd's Sheskin Wind Farm in County Mayo and 29 more at SSE plc's Yellow River wind farm in County Offaly.
“We are delighted to have made a successful first foray into the Irish market. At Ardderroo it was pleasing to be able to mobilise our team at short notice to assist a valued, long-term client,” GWP general manager Ryan Burke said.
