August 17 (Renewables Now) - Portuguese renewables company Greenvolt - Energias Renovaveis SA (ELI:GVOLT) announced today that its subsidiary V-Ridium is commencing construction of 50-MW of wind parks in Poland.

The 15.4-MW Podlasek and the 34.5-MW Wolka Dobrynska were secured in the country’s third energy auction. Greenvolt expects the parks to begin power generation by end-2022.

Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) was selected as the turbine supplier. The company will maintain the equipment for a period of 30 years, Greenvolt said in the press release.

Greenvolt is a unit of Portuguese pulp producer Altri SGPS SA (ELI:ALTR) with a pipeline of about 2.8 GW of solar and wind projects in Poland, Romania and Greece.

At present, the company operates 978 MW of forest biomass-fired power plants in Portugal and one 42-MW waste biomass-based plant in the UK, Greenvolt noted.
